The December 6th Program: Survivor Safety Fund
The Survivor Safety Fund provides financial assistance and wraparound support for women, Two-Spirit, Transgender, and gender-diverse individuals. Funds can be used to cover expenses related to one’s basic needs and safety, including housing acquisition (rent, security deposit), emergency relocation or moving costs. We make all payments directly to third party service providers.
Eligibility Requirements

Funds can be used to cover expenses related to one’s basic needs and safety, including housing acquisition (rent, security deposit), emergency relocation or moving costs. We make all payments directly to third party service providers.
To access the Survivor Safety Fund, individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be living in an unsafe space affected by gender-based violence and experiencing barriers to relocation, OR have fled gender-based violence within the last 4 weeks and have not stayed in formal second-stage housing or shelter.
- Identify as female, Two-Spirit, Transgender, and/or gender-diverse.
- Currently reside in Nova Scotia, have fled Nova Scotia within the last 12 months, or will be using program funds to return to Nova Scotia.
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Must have your own bank account or be willing to open one during the application process.

How to Apply
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Complete the application form to begin. Someone from the December 6th team will reach out to you within 3-4 business days to schedule an intake call.
