Hours: 37.5 hrs/ week, Monday-Friday (with occasional weekend and evening hours)

Program Overview
The Program Coordinator- Youth Volunteerism, works collaboratively with other team members to ensure that the YWCA Halifax Youth Volunteerism programs and supports are as successful as possible. This may involve facilitating or organizing workshops, developing resources, online or virtual communication, group and individual supports, and networking. It may also include helping participants find relevant placements, engaging with community partners, ensuring mentors and supports are in place, supporting participants in their shift from in-class programming to community-based experiences, etc.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing and delivering a youth centred curriculum that builds skills in leadership and community engagement and connects them to positive volunteer opportunities.
The Program Coordinators are responsible for ensuring all YWCA procedures, policies, and budgets are followed and helps contribute to the advancement and achievement of the YWCA mission, vision, values, guiding principles, strategic plan, business plan, and departmental plan.
Duties:
- Ensure the day-to-day function of the Youth Volunteerism Program including email, budgets, and other administrative duties
- Facilitate workshops (virtually and in-person)
- Work collaboratively with other Team members to complete tasks and ensure the success of the program.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reporting with funder.
- Support participants in their Volunteering journey, including one-on-one meetings, placement support, mentor connection and connecting to other programs and services as needed.
- Collaborating with other organizations, programs and events to provide as much information and resources as possible for participants.
- Working within financial and budgetary limits
- Continuous learning and growth to serve youth as best as possible
Qualifications and Requirements:
- The Program Coordinator will have a college diploma or undergraduate degree in Social Work, Education, Recreation, Child and youth care practitioner other relevant areas of studies.
- Experience facilitating workshops, including online facilitation, classes or programs.
- Experience in community partnerships and collaboration.
- Comfortable public speaking
- Confidence and experience working with youth ages 12-24yrs
- Effective interpersonal skills and computer literacy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexible, adaptable, and able to work with your team as needed.
This position requires staff to work some evenings, weekends, and other hours depending on the stage of the program. This is essential to ensuring the program is youth focused and accessible.
