Position Overview
Overseeing facility repairs and maintenance. Responsibilities include initiating, planning, organizing, leading, growing, and risk management of facilities. The Junior Property Manager is responsible for ensuring all YWCA procedures, policies, and facility maintenance and repair budgets are followed, and for ensuring they are compliant with YWCA procedures and policies. The Junior Property Manager ensures positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders, referral sources, and suppliers, and ensures strong knowledge of community assets and services.
Essential Duties of Position:
- Evaluate, assign, and manage work orders for tenant and property maintenance requests.
- Perform maintenance duties as needed.
- Maintain emergency & maintenance contractors (i.e., plumbers, heating, electrical, appliances, etc.)
- Coordinate/Liaise with programs and operations staff regarding work orders, tenant maintenance inquiries/follow-ups, tenant move out/in inspection schedules.
- Assess tenant issues and recommend solutions.
- Liaise with Landlord on a regular basis on maintenance/renovation project updates, operational updates, and scheduling of work.
- Supervise renovation team / oversee renovation projects.
- Contact contractors for quotes on maintenance jobs and renovation projects.
- Coordinate Building Condition Assessments.
- Oversee regular maintenance and logbooks for building systems on properties.
- Update and maintain fire safety plans and oversee drills & inspections.
- Collect rent from tenants when required.
- Be a member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Emergency and after hours call outs.
- Estimated office time 60%; Road 40%
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience with trouble shooting and minor repair work for building systems: plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, roof, etc.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed for emergency maintenance requests.
- Must have a reliable vehicle with clear drivers abstract.
- Basic Administration Skills/Admin Background.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and all other MS Office applications.
- Ability to effectively deal with people.
- Capable of problem solving.
- Comfortable working in an office environment and working as a team, but able to work independently as well.
- Telephone etiquette and professionalism.
- Detail orientated, organized and able to prioritize diverse tasks.
- Rental property experience is an asset, but not a requirement for the job
