Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Administrator to oversee and support our organizational IT needs. This role will be responsible for IT infrastructure management, new hardware and software procurement and setup, cybersecurity basics, SharePoint administration, and Office 365 account management. The IT Support Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring our technology supports the efficiency, security, and effectiveness of YWCA Halifax’s operations and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Support & Infrastructure Management
    • Provide technical support to staff, ensuring IT systems function efficiently.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot network, server, and computer systems.
    • Ensure data backup and disaster recovery procedures are in place.
    • Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures.
    • Monitor system performance and conduct routine maintenance.
  • Hardware & Software Procurement & Setup
    • Evaluate, recommend, and procure necessary IT equipment and software.
    • Set up and configure new hardware (computers, printers, routers, etc.).
    • Manage software installations, updates, and licensing.
    • Maintain an asset inventory of IT equipment.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance
    • Implement and enforce basic cybersecurity best practices.
    • Monitor security risks and provide recommendations to mitigate threats.
    • Educate staff on cybersecurity awareness and safe IT practices.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • SharePoint & Office 365 Administration
    • Manage SharePoint sites, permissions, and assignments.
    • Administer Office 365 accounts, ensuring proper access control.
    • Provide user training and support for SharePoint and Office 365 tools.
    • Automate workflows and optimize IT processes using Office 365 tools.
  • Additional IT Responsibilities
    • Oversee IT vendor relationships and manage external service providers.
    • Assist with website and email system management.
    • Support remote work and hybrid work solutions.
    • Research and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency.
    • Ensure proper documentation of IT processes and configurations.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of IT management.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, networking, and hardware/software management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration and SharePoint management.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and risk mitigation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train and support non-technical staff in IT-related tasks.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and IT infrastructure best practices.
