Yoga and similar modalities open the door to new beginnings and emotional healing. As part of our Strong With Her Campaign, YWCA Halifax wants to bring together all yoga studios and other partners in the Halifax area to recognize national violence against women’s day and those lost in the Montreal massacre, provide a healing space for self-care, and raise funds to help us in our work of ending gender-based violence and providing support to those affected through our December 6th Fund.
Our Strong with Her Yoga Campaign will take place December 6-12, 2020. We will be encouraging yoga studios to do a karma class either in their studio or virtually during the week of December 6th which marks our national violence against women’s day.
We would love to have you join our list of studios this year and encourage as many others as possible to mark this crucial day with a reflection by doing a yoga class. Of course, this is not limited to just yoga and we encourage both yoga and similar modalities. We know this opens the door to new beginnings and emotional healing.
We will launch the week with a very special virtual event hosted by Nikki Martin on December 6th. More details regarding this special event and our Strong with Her campaign coming soon.
Funds raised will help us in our work of ending gender-based violence and providing support to those affected. Specifically, our December 6th Fund.
About December 6th Fund:
The December 6th fund provides non-interest-bearing micro-loans and individualized support to women who wish to flee domestic violence but are compelled to stay for reasons of financial instability, life skills, and barriers to sufficient housing and/or self-sustainability. It reduces the number of homeless women and families in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) while working to end violence against women.
Now more than ever community matters as does its power to enact and effect change and because of this we hope that you will join us.
