Baby Steps  

What is Baby Steps?

Baby Steps is an Education Savings and Financial Literacy program. Baby Steps strives to increase the number of Canadians saving in RESP's to futher their child's education.  This program also seeks to build financial literacy skills of participants to ensure individuals are financially capable.

Baby Steps is an off-site project that is being offered in four Women's Resource Centres throughout the maritimes; Truro, Yarmouth, Antiginish and Moncton, NB.

 YWCA Halifax is a progressive charitable organization that serves women at critical turning points and enables families to thrive.  We build economic security, promote wellness and    create opportunities for women, girls & their families by providing a strong voice and integrated services.  Join our caring and dynamic team. The Baby Steps Coordinator is responsible for the facilitation and administration of the financial literacy education savings programs as delegated by the Supervisor of Women’s Services, including planning, organizing, leading, reporting and risk management.  The Coordinator will encompass effective interpersonal skills and excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.  Must be pro-active, have a high degree of initiative, and excellent follow through.  Strong oral and written communication skills and a high degree of computer literacy are crucial.   Qualifications and experience include a third year or higher human services degree (eg. Family Studies, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, etc.) or equivalent as well as1-2 years experience in community outreach, facilitation, and knowledge of program planning.  Candidates will have general knowledge of programs and services in HRM related to children, women, families and education.  Applicants should possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment, have a high level of computer literacy and the ability to travel within HRM.  Commitment to work within a framework of diversity, inclusivity, and anti-oppression, and sensitivity to issues impacting low- income women and families is essential.     Submit resume with cover letter by close of business day Friday, February 17, 2012 to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
