Girls Changing the World
Girls Changing the World (GCTW) is a graduated peer leadership model that provides a safe space for young women to explore issues of race, sexual violence and healthy sexuality within their peer groups, and with trained positive role models. Both the program curriculum and peer leadership model have incorporated international best practices developed by the Girl Child Network, with whom the YWCA has developed a formal partnership. The GCTW project enables young women to identify how they want to ‘change their world’: themselves, their community, and their globe. The program modules include discussion questions to link the experiences of young women in Zimbabwe to their own experiences, and that of their peers.
