- Provides leadership within the women’s movement and non-profit sector
- Supports extension opportunities across NS
- The YWCA provides responsive, high-quality, participant-centred programs and services that improve the lives of women and young women
The YWCA:
- Provides quality child care in multiple locations with a ‘HUB’ model of early learning and is a leader in the child care sector
- Provides a range of youth development and leadership programs in multiple locations
- Provides employment and training programs for women at various stages and ages
- Alleviates and prevents homelessness for women and young women, and is a leading provider and enabler of affordable, safe, and appropriate housing for women and young women
- Provides health promotion, wellness, and community-driven women’s programming
- The YWCA is a financially sustainable and healthy organization, enabling mission advancement
The YWCA:
- Operates sustainable programming
- Leverages capital/financial assets to advance its’ mission
- Has relevant, purposeful governance policies in place
- Has achieved, or a plan for achieving accepted Standards and Commitments of YWCA Canada, outlining organizational and management excellence
- Provides a broad and growing base of donors with opportunities for meaningful philanthropic engagement
- The YWCA is an organization of choice for volunteers and staff
The YWCA:
- An employee remuneration structure based on performance that includes external and internal equity standards
- Clear, consistent, relevant, and appropriate human resource policies, procedures, and practices
- Updated performance management systems
- An employee development and recognition strategy
- A volunteer management plan that is implemented and evaluated annually
